Zhongnanshan Tunnel or Qinling Zhongnanshan Tunnel is the 2nd longest road tunnel in the world. It is located in the Shaanxi province in China and is a part of the Xi’an-Ankang Highway between the Changan and Zhashui counties.  The cost to build the tunnel was 3.2 billion yuan (US$410 million).The maximum embedded depth of the tunnel is 1640 metres below surface level.

Hsuehshan Road Tunnel is the 5th longest road tunnel in the world. It’s located in Taiwan and connects the city of Taipei to the northeastern county of Yilan (Ilan). One of the key aims of constructing the tunnel was to connect the western coast of Taiwan, where 95% of the population lives, to the eastern coast of the island and in doing so tackle the unbalanced development on the island. It is constructed with one pilot tunnel and two main tunnels for eastbound and westbound traffic.
